iOS: install from the App Store with a non-China-region Apple ID
Tailscale installs from the App Store with a non-China-region Apple ID. It is available — and free — in the US, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore. Pick either route below.
Option 1: create a new free Apple Account (recommended — leaves your current one untouched)
- In the App Store, tap Get on any free app, then choose "Create New Apple Account"
- Pick US, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan or Singapore, and enter an address in that region's format
- Set payment method to "None" — free apps need no payment details at all
Option 2: change the region of your existing Apple Account
- First spend your balance down to zero, cancel every subscription, leave Family Sharing, and let pre-orders and rentals finish
- Then go to account.apple.com → Personal Information → Country/Region and follow the prompts account.apple.com
⚠️ A region change may require a valid payment method for the new region and affects apps and subscriptions you already own. If you'd rather not touch your current account, use Option 1.
Tailscale · App StorePhone & tablet
- Install Tailscale: on Android grab the package from the download section above; on iPhone / iPad use the App Store (needs a non-China Apple ID).
- ⚠️ If this device was ever signed in to a Tailscale account, tap the avatar and “Log Out” first — otherwise the option in the next step will not appear.
- Stay on the signed-out start screen, tap the “⋯” menu in the top right, choose “Use custom server” (some builds call it “Use an alternate server”), and enter the address above.
- Back on the start screen tap “Log in”. A browser opens — sign in with your LeoTun account and confirm. You are in.
Windows
- Get the installer from the download section above — it's hosted here, no need to visit tailscale.com.
- ⚠️ If this device has ever signed in to a Tailscale account, run `tailscale logout` first — otherwise the next command fails, because it would change a control-server setting that is already in place.
- Open a command line (PowerShell on Windows) and run this:
tailscale up --login-server=https://tsc.anyfq.com:18443 - A browser opens — sign in with your LeoTun account and confirm. You're connected.
Linux
- Download the .deb above and double-click it to install with the software centre.
- Open a terminal and run:
tailscale up --login-server=https://tsc.anyfq.com:18443 - The terminal prints a link. Right-click it, choose Open Link, and sign in with your LeoTun account in the browser. If it says "requires mentioning all non-default flags", run the full command it shows instead. If it says Access denied, run the command in step 4 below once first.
- For a graphical app, install Trayscale from the software centre, run the command below once, then pick an exit region in Trayscale:

macOS
- Download Tailscale from the section above, drag it into Applications and open it. When macOS asks, click Open.
- Do not click “Log in”. In the Tailscale window, click the arrow on the account row → “Account Settings…” → the “Accounts” tab → the small arrow next to “Add Account…” → “Add Account Using Alternate Server”.
- Paste the address above and click “Add Account…”. Your browser opens — sign in with your LeoTun account if asked, then click “Confirm registration”.
The first time you connect Tailscale, macOS will ask you to approve a Network Extension — skip this and the icon just spins forever without connecting:
macOS 15 Sequoia and later
- Open System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions.
- Scroll to the "Extensions" section at the bottom, switch the view to "By Category", and click the ⓘ next to "Network Extensions".
- Turn on the Tailscale toggle and enter your password or confirm with Touch ID when prompted.
macOS 13 Ventura / 14 Sonoma
- Launch Tailscale once and click Connect — a "System Extension Blocked" alert will appear.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to "System software from developer \"Tailscale Inc.\" was blocked from loading", click Allow, and enter your password.
Choosing an exit region
Phone & tablet — open the Tailscale app, tap the menu in the top-right, choose Exit Node, and pick a region. Switching takes effect immediately.
Windows — The Tailscale icon in the Windows tray or the macOS menu bar has an Exit Node submenu — one click, no commands. Or use the command line:
